Businesses closed due to COVID-19 down to 10% in June

The total number of businesses that closed their operations because of the COVID-19 pandemic decreased to 10% in June, according to a report from Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez reported last Wednesday.
During the Senate Committee on Trade, Commerce and Entrepreneurship, Lopez stated that the loosening of the community quarantine restrictions allowed companies to resume operations whether partial or full.
Fully operational establishments were at 44% while partially opened businesses were at 46% last month.
Lopez added that the number of companies that reported a decline in sales slowed down to 53.8% in June compared to 61.7% in May and 67.8% in March.
“As we are reopening, we are able to bring back jobs and basically be able to reduce the unemployment figures,” he concluded.
