Global BPOs to expand operations in Jamaica

Several foreign companies are looking to expand their operations in Jamaica as a nearshore location, according to a statement released by trade promotion agency Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO).
JAMPRO IT services Manager Vivion Scully said that they have received inquiries from overseas investors due to the “high productivity and excellent English-speaking workforce” in the country.
However, Scully said that they cannot release specific information about potential ventures until “they have given us [the] approval to do so [or] until their projects have been finalized”.
The trade agency has recently indicated that Jamaica’s BPO industry is currently employing over 43,000 locals, 20% more than 2020’s figures.
Scully noted that the upcoming expansion of BPO investors in the country emphasizes the exceptional services that Jamaica is offering to its foreign clients.
