Guyana’s PM pushes for digitization

Guyana cannot be left behind in the drive to enhance global digitization, said Prime Minister Brigadier Mark Anthony Phillips.
During a meeting with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in Guyana Jairo Valverde and Senior Advisor Jose Eguren, Philips noted that the country’s ICT Access and E-Services for Hinterland, Poor, and Remote Communities project is of extreme importance.
Prime Minister Phillips said that the project will connect Guyana’s communities and enhance the ICT sector in the country. He added that the COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the importance of technological advancements and forced its acceleration throughout various countries across the world.
Valverde, in his part, said that the project, once fully implemented, will significantly boost Guyana’s ICT environment.
The Office of the Prime Minister and the UNDP have collaborated on the development of the ICT and E-Services project.
