51% of Singapore workers are overworked since the COVID-19 started

About 51% of employees in Singapore have been overworking since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a study by online job platform Indeed.
In its Future of Work research, Indeed found that more than half of professionals are working more than the standard 44-hour workweek in the country.
Indeed India and SEA Senior Marketing Manager Nishita Lalvani said that Singapore’s long office hours have worsened since remote work “blurred the boundaries between work and personal space.”
On the bright side, Lalvani stated that employees are now aiming for a “better work-life balance” with 88% of respondents showing their support for a four-day workweek and 63% considering fewer shifts this year.
Meanwhile, more than half of the workers surveyed also said that their companies do not offer the possibility of working fewer hours for reduced pay.
The Indeed marketing manager said that this may be “the result of an organizational culture that is conservative and has low trust,” Lalvani noted.
However, Lalvani emphasized that it is a good time for local employers to rethink their policies as more workers are now searching for flexible working arrangements.
