India’s job market rose by 41% in January

The hiring activity in India saw a 41% increase in January 2022 compared to the same period last year, according to the latest Naukri JobSpeak Index.
Employment website Naukri noted strong growth in major sectors such IT-Software whose workforce increased by 80%, Banking/Financial Services by 31%, Telecom up by 48% and Pharma by 29%.
Other industries like Hospitality expanded its staff by 18%, Retail by 52%, Education by 31%, and Real Estate registered 20% more employees last month.
Naukri also stated that the job market upswing in IT-Software and BFSI (banking, financial services, and insurance) sectors have enabled metro cities to outperform their tier-II counterparts in the annual growth charts.
Meanwhile, the cities of Bengaluru which booked a 79% increase in hires, Hyderabad which registered 66% more workers, and Pune with 63% growth in its workforce, recorded the highest employment growth rates last month.
Naukri.com Chief Business Officer Pawan Goyal said that “2022 has started on a resilient note with hiring sentiment improving across all sectors, despite the third wave [of COVID-19].”
He added that “industries across India are gearing up for growth and getting past the previous year.”
