BPO Council vets Ugandan Dubai Expo presenters

Uganda’s Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and Innovation Council has started the vetting process for the potential representatives of the ICT sector at Dubai Expo 2020’s Innovation Week.
Last month, the Ministry of ICT & National Guidance (ICT & NG) encouraged innovative individuals to submit their concepts to be part of a group of selected IT innovators and BPO professionals. Companies who are selected will be given an opportunity to interact with investors at the Expo.
Ministry of ICT & NG Permanent Secretary Dr. Aminah Zawedde said that the vetting process will be focused on how the business could work with the ministry in creating ICT outsourcing and innovation jobs for the youth.
Uganda will be part of the Opportunity District at the Dubai Expo, reflecting the necessity of financial capital to support growth and partnerships as a primary driver of innovation and employment in the country.
BPO and Innovation Council ChairpersonProf. William Baseyo added that they are “keen to select companies that will represent Uganda’s national aspirations for promoting innovations to deliver Social-Economic transformation.”
Baseyo noted that they are expecting jobs to be created as a result of participating in the exhibition.
The Council targets to create 20,000 jobs in the ICT outsourcing and innovation sector over the next 18 months.
