BOI looking to attract more biotech innovators through US roadshow

The Board of Investments (BOI) is looking to persuade more foreign biotechnology companies to invest in the Philippines by meeting various healthcare innovators in their United States (US) roadshow.
Happening in the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley under the BOI’s Make It Happen in the Philippines campaign, the roadshow aims to introduce investment opportunities in the country to US-based startups in the life sciences and healthcare sector.
Among the attendees is the Filipino-led firm InterVenn. Founded by Filipino Aldo Carrascoso, InterVenn is pioneering the latest innovation in pre-cancer screening using artificial intelligence (AI).
The company is further expanding its Philippine office, the hub for InterVenn’s software, adding 100 software Filipino engineers to its workforce.
DTI Undersecretary Rafaelita Aldaba said that he is proud of the InterVenn team as they lead “the latest innovation in pre-cancer screening and opening up a whole new dimension of biology called the ‘Glycoverse’.”
Aldaba added that he is looking forward to InterVenn expansion in the country this year.
The delegation also met with Presidio Medical founder and chief technology officer Kenneth Wu and Vator chief executive officer and Vator Health Fund managing director Bambi Francisco Roizen.
