EU dominates Global Remote Work Index

European countries are leading the remote work movement, taking the top spots in Nordlayer’s Global Remote Work Index.
Germany and Denmark earned the top two places in the Index’s overall ranking, while Spain, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Sweden, Estonia, and France joined them in the top 10.
The United States and Singapore are the only non-EU nations to enter the overall remote work ranking, taking the third and ninth spots, respectively.
According to NordLayer’s report, the index compared 66 countries on their remote working attractiveness based on cybersecurity, digital infrastructure, economic and social conditions, and COVID-19 response.
Slovakia, Lithuania, Germany, Estonia, and Greece were ranked as the five most favorable countries for remote work regarding cybersecurity. Meanwhile, Canada and the United Kingdom led the index’s economic and social conditions section.
At the same time, South Korea and Singapore performed the best regarding digital and physical infrastructure due to the quality of their internet connectivity, co-working spaces, and e-government services.
Lastly, the USA, Thailand, and Australia were the ones who handled the COVID-19 best during the past two years.
NordLayer Chief Technology Office Juta Gurinaviciute said the index “emphasizes the safety and reliability of both the physical and digital environment.”
She added that the report is “an excellent resource for remote employees who wish to relocate or work in a nation other than their current residence.”
