PH’s creative industry to play vital role in economic recovery

The creative industry could help in the recovery of the Philippines economy from the COVID-19 pandemic, said Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Alfredo Pascual.
During the Creative Futures 2022 Conference, Pascual said that the sector is “reclaiming [its] path to development” after it was brought down by the adverse impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The DTI chief stated that there are programs and policies in place to help in the development of the local creative industries. This includes the newly-ratified Philippine Creative Industries Development Act and the implementation of the Creative Economy Strategy of the Philippines (Crest PH)
“Crest PH takes a holistic approach to improving the competitiveness of the creative industries, facilitating the development and promotion of creative goods exports, and assisting creative firms in accessing the global market. Crest PH employs a suite of interventions to address the sector’s top, binding constraints,” Pascual said.
The program also uses evidence-based solutions, data analytics, knowledge management, and competency development to address concerns of creative enterprises, including innovation preparedness and adoption of technology for digital transformation.
