PH’s COVID-19 new cases up 24%, NCR to stay under Alert Level 1

The Philippines recorded a total of 24,100 new COVID-19 cases from July 25 to July 31, 2022, up 24% from the previous week.
According to the Department of Health (DOH), the daily average cases also jumped from 2,791 to 3,443.
Of the new cases tallied last week, about 0.32% or 76 people were tagged as severe or critical cases.
Meanwhile, as of July 31, a total of 744 severe and critical cases were admitted to hospitals due to the viral disease.
Of the 2,583 intensive care unit (ICU) beds, 601 or 23.3% are occupied and 6,505 or 29.5% of non-ICU COVID-19 beds are in use.
Due to the resurgence of the virus, the Philippine government resolved to continue putting the National Capital Region (NCR) under Alert level 1 until August 15.
The DOH, which chairs the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, also put 10 more local government units under the most relaxed alert level.
At the same time, other localities in Cordillera, CARAGA, BARMM, and Regions 4 to 12 will remain under Alert Level 2 until mid-August.
