PH gov’t allots P12Bn for digitization in 2023

The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) announced that the government will allocate n P12.5 billion (US$219 million) to improve e-government transactions and further the country’s digitalization in 2023.
In a senate briefing, Budget Secretary AmenahPangandaman mentioned that the funding proposal is aligned with Marcos’ digitalization transformation.
From the budget the Department of Information and Technology (DICT) will acquire the largest allocation amounting to P4.24 billion (US$74 million) for its ICT systems and infrastructure development.
Meanwhile, the Department of Finance (DOF) will get P3.56 billion (US$62 million) to fund their digital transformation programs.
he Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and Bureau of Customs (BOC) will be entitled to P3.56 billion (US$62 million)for its ICT projects throughout the government.
Pangandaman added that they willl “prioritize digitalization and accelerate its transformation,” as well asthe improvement of revenue collection through the country’s move to digitalization in 2023.
