Marcos keen on bolstering IT-BPM sector in PH

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. optimistic about the Philippines’ Information Technology and Business Process Management (IT-BPM) sector said that the government is eager to further develop the said industry.
“We are eager to continue advancing our IT-BPM sector, which has been ranked as one of the best performing and employment generating industries in the Philippines over the past four years,” Marcos said in a roundtable discussion with IT-BPM executives in New York City.
The IT-BPM industry is eyeing to accelerate its revenues by as much as 10 percent this year and targets over 1.1 million jobs in the next six years.
The Philippines’ IT-BPM sector is one of the most resilient economic drivers of the country. In 2021, the Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) reported that the sector’s revenue in 2021 was $29.49 billion, up 10.6 percent from the previous year. The number of full-time employees (FTEs) in the country climbed by 120,000 last year, bringing the sector’s overall headcount to 1.44 million and representing a 9.1-percent rise over 2020.
