Uganda seeks tech talents abroad
Uganda is stepping up its promotional efforts for its local IT industry to attract international investors and foreign tech talents to the country.
During his presentation at the Uruguay Business Summit, President Luis Lacalle Pou said, “National talent cannot be replaced, everything can be done in infrastructure, but if there is no talent, things are not achieved.”
Lacalle Pou is reportedly working with the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technologies (CUTI) and the Assistant Secretary of the Presidency to deal with the “shortage of manpower.”
The president’s statement is part of a long-term government initiative to make Uruguay a “Latin American hub” for the tech industry.
Lacalle Pou also pointed out that “with responsible freedom, Uruguay was attractive for many people to come to invest and stay.“
In addition, he emphasized the excellent infrastructure of the country and insisted on national stability and long-term laws, which make there “fertile ground for these global undertakings.”
Moreover, Lacalle Pou remarked on Uruguay’s security, tranquility, and friendliness as even in the business world, “everything ends up being a matter of human feelings.”
