Negros Occidental provincial gov’t to build BPO hub

NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, PHILIPPINES — The provincial government of Negros Occidental is planning to develop a hub for business process outsourcing (BPO) firms, according to Governor Eugenio Lacson.
Lacson said that several prime properties in the area of Bacolod City owned by the provincial government are up for development into a center that will be populated by BPOs.
In January, the province of Negros Occidental reported that it recorded a bullish revenue growth coming from its Negros First Cyber Center, a commercial building rented out to IT and BPO operators.
Negros First Cyber Center registered an income of Php99.595 million from rentals, exceeding last year’s target of Php15 million by more than 500%.
From 2020 to 2021, the province was the top grosser in locally-sourced revenues, with a growth of 83.68%.
