Malacañang approves two new PEZA ecozones

PASAY CITY, PHILIPPINES — President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. recently signed two proclamations to create new economic zones in Batangas Province and Bacolod City.
According to Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) Director General Tereso Panga, these new ecozones will bolster and spread economic growth in the country — particularly outside the National Capital Region (NCR).
Last April 14, 2023, the President signed Proclamation No. 200 promulgating a new IT park called Robinsons Cyberpark Bacolod, with PHP777 million (US$14 million) of projected investment.
At the same time, Marcos approved Proclamation No.402 last April 19, 2023, designating several parcels of land located in Batangas for the expansion of Lima Technology Center – Special Economic Zone. The expansion will bring PHP864 million(US$15.5 million) of investments.
These new zones will bring in PHP1.61 billion (US$29 billion) worth of investments.
To date, PEZA has 20 pending ecozones to be proclaimed by President Marcos, including 11 IT centers, eight manufacturing, and one agro-industrial ecozone.
Panga thanked the President, adding that creating new ecozones will help bring in more investments and exports, creating more jobs in the country.
