75% of firms will introduce AI in 5 years — WEF

COLOGNY, SWITZERLAND — Around 75% of companies across industries are planning to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) in their workplace over the next five years, said World Economic Forum (WEF).
In WEF’s The Future of Jobs Report 2023, AI and Big Data are the top priorities in company training strategies until 2027.
“For very large organizations with over 50,000 employees, it even gets top billing,” the report added.
WEF Managing Director Saadia Zahidi also revealed that automation is most likely to be seen helping in decision-making, reasoning, and communication tasks.
“It’s not surprising because we’ve all seen what is happening with generative AI and how fast that’s getting adopted across various industries. That’s exactly where there’s some prediction that we’re likely to see further disruption.”
By 2027, WEF expects machines to take over 43% of workplace tasks, while humans would only be responsible for 57%.
This is a significant contrast from 2022, where machines only took 34% of tasks while humans are still responsible for 66%.
Jeff Maggioncalda, CEO of online learning company Coursera, quoted their founder Andrew Ng for saying that “AI is the new electricity,”
“Whether you’re ready or not, almost anything digital is going to change and become AI-enabled,” Jeff Maggioncalda added.
