Wipro donates supplies, offers BPO training to Cebu students

CEBU, PHILIPPINES — In a recent move to support education and job readiness in Cebu City, global Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) company Wipro donated supplies to several public schools and initiated free training programs for senior high school students.
The initiative was carried out last Saturday, June 10, in partnership with Councilor Donaldo Hontiveros, chairman of the Committee on Education in the City Council.
Schools in Tagbao, Bonbon, and Sudlon 1 were chosen as beneficiaries of Wipro’s corporate social responsibility drive.
A total of 170 learners from Tagbao and 100 from both Bonbon and Sudlon 1 received school supplies, canned goods, and other essentials from Wipro.
In addition to the donations, Hontiveros revealed that Wipro is launching a free training program at Sudlon 1 for senior high school students. The program will cover the basics of working in the BPO industry. It follows a successful collaboration between Wipro and Hontiveros on a similar training program in Guadalupe.
The training program is part of Wipro’s commitment to supporting education and workforce readiness in its operating regions. It aims to provide crucial skills and open potential job opportunities for students interested in joining the outsourcing sector.
Wipro is a global powerhouse in ICT, BPO, and business consultation. Its industry expertise helped the firm land the #3 spot in the Time Doctor OA500, the first objective index of the world’s top 500 outsourcing companies.
