Hexagon acquires CADS Additive

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN — Information technology (IT) solutions provider Hexagon has acquired CADS Additive, a provider of software components for metal additive manufacturing.
CADS Additive specializes in simplifying 3D printing on powder bed fusion machines, a niche that complements existing manufacturing technologies.
This deal extends the capabilities of Hexagon’s Nexus digital reality platform, now offering comprehensive tools for CAD model preparation, build preparation, simulation-based optimizations, quality and production intelligence, and automation of computer-aided manufacturing.
“The acquisition of CADS Additive enables us to provide our customers with integrated tools that empower manufacturing teams to reduce waste and increase efficiency as they move from prototyping to production,” said Hexagon President and CEO Paolo Guglielmini.
Post-acquisition, CADS Additive will operate under Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division. Hexagon operates in over 27 industries with revenue of over 5.2bn EUR ($5.6bn) and more than 24,000 employees across 50 countries.
