U.S. firms offer office etiquette classes for employees

CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES — Around 45% of companies in the United States (U.S.) reportedly offer office etiquette classes to help transition back to physical workplaces.
According to the career resource center ResumeBuilder.com, these training programs aim to bridge the adjustment gap for seasoned employees and freshers, especially Gen Z workers and new graduates.
In a survey commissioned by the firm, 60% out of 1,548 companies revealed their plan to make the training mandatory for all employees, while 10% will require it specifically for new graduates and Gen Z workers.
Most business leaders believe that Gen Z struggles with ‘soft’ skills, despite being competent in technical tasks. The training typically includes learning polite conversation, professional dressing, and writing professional emails.
ResumeBuilder.com Chief Career Advisor Stacie Haller said, “It’s great to see that companies are taking action and acknowledging the need for Gen Z to learn the skills needed to be effective in an office environment.”
Haller added that many organizations are also implementing mentorship programs from the onset.
The survey also highlighted that of those companies currently offering classes, two-thirds said they have been ‘highly’ successful, proving the training’s importance and effectiveness.
