Global IT sector boasts strongest hiring outlook for 2023

MILWAUKEE, UNITED STATES — The IT sector leads the global hiring outlook for Q4 2023 with a 39% Net Employment Outlook (NEO) for the fourth quarter of 2023.
According to the ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey — which collected responses from nearly 39,000 employers across 41 countries — the strong outlook for the IT sector highlights the growing demand for digital transformation and skilled professionals in the industry.
As companies continue to invest in technology and adapt to the rapidly changing business landscape, the IT sector is expected to remain a key driver of global employment growth.
Positive outlooks were also seen in the Financials & Real Estate sector at 33%, Communication Services at 31%, Health Care & Life Sciences at 31%, and Energy & Utilities at 31%.
ManpowerGroup Chairman and CEO Jonas Prising explained that their latest data reveals employers continue to plan measured hiring despite economic uncertainties.
“As transformation accelerates – from generative AI to the green transition – investing in people remains key for companies to build resilience and agility moving forward,” Prising added.
Used internationally as a forerunner of economic and labor market trends, Manpower’s NEO is calculated by subtracting the percentage of employers who anticipate reductions in staffing levels from those who plan to hire.
