Telangana aims to lead India’s IT growth

TELANGANA, INDIA — Telangana Minister of Information Technology (IT) and Industries Duddilla Sridhar Babu set an ambitious vision for the state to become India‘s undisputed IT exports and job creation leader.
During a review meeting of Telangana’s IT sector, Babu directed local officials to chart a roadmap for catalyzing IT industry growth across the state. He stressed the need to boost IT hubs in Tier II and III cities like Warangal, Karimnagar, Khammam, and Nizamabad.
Further, Babu also advised formulating proposals for new IT parks and towers in Hyderabad and other major towns.
In a statement, the minister said that IT officials should work closely with the industry to ensure Telangana records the highest IT export and employment growth in India.
Babu also met a delegation from French aerospace firm Merio to discuss plans for a technology joint venture in Hyderabad.
Led by Merio CEO Remi Plenet, the delegation explained proposals to collaborate with local startup HC Robotics on building advanced camera stabilizing systems called gimbals for the Indian Armed Forces.
Minister Babu assured the delegation of full government support for the “unique and first-of-its-kind project in India.”
The state government views IT as crucial for job creation and economic growth. Since Telangana’s formation in 2014, IT exports have grown four-fold to ₹2.41 lakh crore (US$ 29.6 billion) in 2022-2023 — the highest nationwide increase of 31.44%. The IT sector also currently directly employs over 900,000 people within the state.
