Fiji outsourcing contributes $216Mn annually, seeks more jobs
SUVA, FIJI — Industry body Outsource Fiji contributes about $216 million annually to Fiji’s economy and aims to increase this by extending employment opportunities in the industry, saif Executive Director Sagufta Janif.
There are currently 37 members in Outsource Fiji, 33 of whom provide outsourcing services. Most clients are overseas companies, and locals work for them from Fiji.
To enhance capacity building and pathways into the industry, Outsource Fiji is partnering with New Zealand-based Duco Consultancy to develop a learning management system (LMS) platform. This will allow locals to self-assess and join the industry for free.
The LMS courses will be specific to needs identified by industry members, such as e-commerce, software design, and Excel. People can complete courses in their own time without traveling.
Duco Consultancy Founder CEO Chandan Ohri said the platform development is part of their corporate social responsibility, so there is no monetary aspect. It will have industry-relevant niche courses that Outsource Fiji members can host.
“Whether it’s understanding social media, understanding security, financial well-being and so on, these are very niche courses that Outsource Fiji can host on learning management solution and then the participants, or the students can actually do them at their own pace, at their own time,” Ohri added.
The LMS also has an in-built badge system to recognize course completion. This unique platform highlights Fiji’s strengths and provides upskilling opportunities to support economic growth.
