HR firm SinglePoint Outsourcing reports data breach

CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES — Human resource outsourcing solutions provider SinglePoint Outsourcing recently reported a significant data breach to the Montana Attorney General’s Office.
The breach, discovered on November 30, 2023, involved unauthorized access to the company’s computer network, leading to the potential exposure of sensitive consumer information.
The compromised data includes names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, and bank account information of their clients.
SinglePoint initiated an investigation with forensic experts upon discovering the breach, which occurred between November 8 and 9. The affected files were reviewed on January 11 to identify the individuals impacted by this incident.
As a response, SinglePoint began sending notification letters to the affected parties on February 12. These letters aim to inform victims about the breach and the specific information about them that was compromised.
Additionally, SinglePoint has taken steps to secure its systems and prevent future breaches, including resetting passwords and enhancing its monitoring capabilities.
SinglePoint Outsourcing is a California-based HR services firm that offers a broad range of services, including benefits administration, workers’ compensation administration, and human resources management.
The company, a part of Triad Solutions, employs over 37 individuals and generates around $10 million in annual revenue. It serves clients across various industries, such as agriculture, construction, finance, healthcare, and non-profits.
The breach’s full impact remains unclear, but SinglePoint said it is committed to supporting the affected individuals by offering free credit monitoring and identity protection services for 12 to 24 months. Consumers who have received a data breach notification are also encouraged to take steps to protect themselves from potential fraud and identity theft.
