Ambience Healthcare raises $70Mn for AI operating system

CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES — Medical software provider Ambience Healthcare has raised $70 million in a Series B funding co-led by Kleiner Perkins and OpenAI Startup Fund, which it will use to advance its artificial intelligence (AI) platform.
The investment round also included participation from existing investors Andreessen Horowitz and Optum Ventures.
Ambience Healthcare’s AI operating system offers a multitude of digital services aimed at improving efficiency and reducing clinician burnout to deliver high-value patient care.
Among the features of its platform are AutoScribe, which generates notes of conversations both in emergency and hospital environments; AutoRefer, which improves handoffs to other specialists; and AutoAVS, which creates comprehensive educational handouts for patients after their hospital visits.

Ambience Healthcare has raised $100 million in total funding from Kleiner Perkins, OpenAI Startup Fund, Andreessen Horowitz, Optum Ventures, Human Capital, Martin Ventures, AIX Ventures, AirTree Ventures, John Doerr, Jeff Dean, Richard Socher, Pieter Abbeel, Anne Wojcicki, Eren Bali, Jay Desai, Nish Bhat, Matt Mochary, and others.
