Dubai hosts key Uzbekistan IT outsourcing event

DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES — Dubai recently hosted the Uzbekistan Outsourcing Conference, marking a significant step for Uzbekistan in its quest to become a key player in the global IT outsourcing market.
Organized by the Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan and IT Park Uzbekistan, the conference attracted over 100 top experts and business leaders, underscoring the nation’s IT capabilities and potential.
In 2023, IT Park’s 41 residents exported IT services and digital products worth $19.7 million to the UAE. The conference sought to not only boost these numbers but also to spotlight Uzbekistan as an attractive destination for IT outsourcing backed by its tax incentives, supportive programs, skilled workforce, and advanced IT infrastructure.
Key attendees included Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Abu Dhabi, Abdulaziz Akulov, IT Park Uzbekistan CEO Farhad Ibragimov, DIFC Innovation Hub CEO Mohammad Albushi, and representatives of leading IT and business process outsourcing (BPO) companies, venture funds, and investors.
Attendees discussed Uzbekistan’s IT sector, sharing insights and exploring cooperation opportunities. The event also showcased innovative solutions from IT Park residents like Unicon Soft and ExactIT, setting the stage for new business partnerships.
Moreover, IT Park highlighted the benefits of operating in Uzbekistan, including tax exemptions and the “Zero Risk” and “Regional Headquarters” programs for foreign IT and BPO firms.
The conference is expected to result in the opening of over 15 companies in Uzbekistan, generating significant exports and creating thousands of jobs, reinforcing the country’s IT outsourcing credentials on the global stage.
Uzbekistan hosted a similar event in London last November, highlighting opportunities for mutually beneficial collaboration between the United Kingdom and Uzbekistan’s tech industries.
