Wipro, Nutanix to launch new cloud business unit

UNITED STATES and INDIA — Information technology (IT) company Wipro and cloud company Nutanix have teamed up to launch a business unit that offers a suite of cloud services.
The business unit will cater to firms in need of a boost in their digital and hybrid multi-cloud systems. Wipro and Nutanix will help firms increase the efficiency and resiliency of their cloud operations.
Clients can consult the two firms for the design and engineering of their systems. The partnership also aims to meet the growing demand for hybrid multi-cloud solutions.
“In the hybrid multicloud era, enterprises need a unified platform to securely and efficiently run their applications and data anywhere,” said Tarkan Maner, Chief Commercial Officer, Nutanix.
“The dedicated business unit will play a pivotal role in harnessing the transformative capabilities of hybrid multicloud, while also actively contributing to the sustainability efforts by reducing energy consumption and carbon footprint in data centers,” said Jo Debecker, Senior Vice President, and Global Head of Wipro FullStride Cloud, Wipro Limited.
Nutanix’s revenues grew by 16% year over year to $565.2 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2024 on the back of robust growth in its HCI software.
Meanwhile, Wipro’s 2023 third-quarter net profits dropped by 12%. This is the fourth consecutive quarter that the Indian tech firm posted negative net profits.
Last month, it acquired a 60% stake in Aggne, a consulting and managed services firm for the insurance and insurtech industries, for an investment of $66 million.
Wipro ranked #4 in the OA500 2024, an objective index of the world’s top 500 outsourcing companies. This is a slight decline from its previous ranking of #3 in the OA500 2023.
