Employee-led hybrid work models boost company revenue: Eptura study

GEORGIA, UNITED STATES — New research from Eptura revealed that employee-led hybrid work models and connected workplace technology are driving the highest returns for companies.
The “H1 2024 Workplace Index” explores the state of hybrid work environments and the technology planned to enhance operations over the next year. The report combines data from Eptura’s platform used by over 16.3 million people with a survey of 200 senior leaders at large organizations in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Australia, and Singapore.
Measuring hybrid work’s financial impact
A key finding is that operational leaders project an average three to eight percent incremental revenue increase from employees working effectively in the office under hybrid models.
This revenue boost is primarily due to optimized real estate usage and planning for future growth. Companies that enable successful in-person interactions under flexible hybrid models see the greatest returns.
Currently, employees worldwide spend about three days per week in the office, with the Asia Pacific region showing the largest increase in office attendance (52%). Legal and business services lead at 3.28 days in a week, while the energy sector at 3.21 days. Tech industries show less physical presence at 2.13 days.
The report highlights a trend of mid-week office attendance, being most popular from Tuesday to Thursday.
Technology investments on the rise
The Eptura report also identifies major investment areas over the next year, including data analytics, integrated workplace solutions, and collaboration software. Eptura’s survey indicates a critical need for businesses to streamline their technological infrastructures to leverage operational data effectively.
Additionally, the research points to the economic climate and technology costs as the main barriers to achieving sustainability goals. Buildings account for 39% of global carbon emissions, but many organizations struggle with the perceived cost of sustainability programs. By focusing on centralized data systems, companies can enhance their environmental performance and efficiency.
“Global leaders recognize the significant value that connected workplaces bring to their operations, impacting employee experiences, building management, and asset handling,” said Brandon Holden, CEO of Eptura.
“These elements cannot be effectively managed in isolation, prompting businesses to adopt integrated platforms for a comprehensive view of their data. With workplace attendance stabilizing, our focus is now on enhancing operational efficiencies, optimizing processes, and improving the overall workplace environment for employees.”
