Kyndryl launches advanced security operations center in India

BENGALURU, INDIA — Kyndryl, the world’s largest IT infrastructure provider, has unveiled a state-of-the-art Security Operations Center (SOC) in Bengaluru, India.
The facility is designed to offer comprehensive cybersecurity support, focusing on advanced protection capabilities throughout the entire cyber threat lifecycle.
AI-powered cybersecurity hub
The new SOC operates around the clock, leveraging artificial intelligence, specifically machine learning and integrated automation systems, to provide cyber threat intelligence and incident response services.
This cyber defense hub collaborates with Kyndryl’s global network of cybersecurity experts to offer tailored solutions for organizations
Addressing India’s growing cybersecurity challenges
The need for robust cybersecurity measures in India is more pressing than ever. A 2023 DSCI report revealed that over 400 million cyber threats were detected across 8.5 million endpoints in the country, with an average of 761 detections per minute.
In the same year, a Ponemon study also reported that cyberattacks and data breaches resulted in $2.18 million in revenue losses for Indian organizations.
“We are addressing the critical security challenges C-suite leaders face, the need for enhanced operational efficiency, compliance with evolving security regulations, and integration with new technologies,” said Lingraju Sawkar, President of Kyndryl India.
“Our focus is on managing increased workloads, responding to dynamic business needs, and defending against an expanded attack surface. With the Indian government’s strong focus on data security policies, we are committed to leading the way with innovative and responsible enterprise resilience services to make India Cyber Surakshit.”
Advanced capabilities and flexible solutions
The SOC offers a range of advanced capabilities, including:
- Multiple-level incident monitoring
- Malware labs
- Threat hunting
- Security information and event management (SIEM)
These services are underpinned by Kyndryl’s Security Operations as a platform (SOaap) capability, which provides a centralized view for monitoring, detecting, preventing, and responding to cyber threats in real time.
Kyndryl provides a hybrid model that allows organizations to selectively outsource certain cybersecurity functions or fully outsource the end-to-end management of their cybersecurity operations.
Global expertise and partnerships
Kris Lovejoy, Security & Resiliency Global Practice Leader at Kyndryl, highlighted the importance of the new SOC: “With the swift shift to cloud and hybrid working environments, sophisticated cyber threats and vulnerabilities have surged. The SOC will observe, identify, prevent, and react immediately to these threats.”
The company’s partnership with Microsoft further strengthens its cybersecurity offerings. Anand Jethalia, Country Head of Security at Microsoft India & South Asia, stated, “The establishment of Kyndryl’s SOC in India is an important step toward our combined efforts to counteract the surge of cyber threats and bolster security.”
As cyber threats continue to evolve, Kyndryl’s new SOC in Bengaluru represents a significant step forward in providing advanced cybersecurity solutions for businesses in India and beyond.
