MUMBAI, INDIA — Accenture, a global leader in IT services, is doubling down on its strategy to leverage Indian talent as a cornerstone of its growth initiatives.

With over 300,000 employees in India, the company plans to further expand its workforce in the country, emphasizing technological roles.

Accenture CEO Julie Sweet highlighted this approach during a recent investor call, stating, “We are hiring primarily in India, so a lot of that hiring is technology in India.”

Workforce expansion and hiring strategy

Indian employees currently make up about 57% of Accenture’s global workforce of 770,000. In fiscal year 2025, which operates on a September-August cycle, Accenture added 41,484 new employees globally, with over 24,000 joining in the August quarter alone.

This hiring surge is part of Accenture’s strategy to refresh its talent pyramid by bringing in new graduates and skilled professionals.

Financial outlook and generative AI initiatives

Accenture projects its revenues for the first quarter of fiscal year 2025 to be between $16.8 billion and $17.4 billion. The company reported a five percent revenue increase in the third quarter compared to the same period last year.

Additionally, Accenture secured $1 billion in Generative AI (GenAI) bookings during the fourth quarter of FY24-25.

Julie Sweet emphasized GenAI as a transformative technology for the next decade and noted that strategic investments have positioned Accenture for robust growth in fiscal 2025.

Challenges and opportunities with GenAI

While optimistic about GenAI’s potential, Accenture acknowledges that successful implementation requires clients to have robust data infrastructure, which is essential for harnessing GenAI’s full capabilities.

The company’s ongoing efforts to lead digital reinvention for clients are expected to drive continued success and expansion.
