Accenture boosts supply chain prowess with JTG acquisition
NEW YORK and TENNESSEE, UNITED STATES — Global professional services giant Accenture announced it has acquired Joshua Tree Group (JTG), a Franklin, Tennessee-based consulting firm exclusively focused on supply chain.
The acquisition, announced on October 14, 2024, aims to bolster Accenture’s offerings in the retail and consumer goods sectors, particularly in the realm of autonomous supply chains and AI-powered distribution centers.
Strategic synergy for enhanced performance
Accenture reported revenues of $16.4 billion for the fourth quarter, up 3 percent in U.S. dollars and 5 percent in local currencies over comparable prior year periods.
The company operates in more than 120 countries and has a workforce of about 750,000 people. It ranked #1 in OA500 2024, an objective index of the world’s 500 top outsourcing companies, for the second year running.
JTG, on the other hand, contributes its specialized knowledge in distribution center performance and on-site worker management. This combination is expected to yield significant improvements in labor productivity, inventory management, and customer fulfillment for Accenture’s clients.
“Often, companies automate too much or too little of their distribution center operations because they don’t have a detailed enough understanding of each task and the technological possibilities,” said Patty Riedl, leader of Accenture’s Supply Chain & Operations practice in North America.
“Accenture and JTG are combining deep technology skills, process know-how and on-the-ground experience to determine the right levels and types of automation for our clients’ distribution centers and supply chains overall.”
Expanding AI and digital twin solutions
The merger will enable Accenture to offer more sophisticated generative AI and digital twin warehouse solutions to its retail and consumer goods clients. For instance, AI tools could be employed to optimize shipment schedules and manage stock levels more efficiently, potentially revolutionizing warehouse operations.

“By combining our supply chain expertise with Accenture’s advanced technology capability, reputation, scale and talent we will enable more compelling supply chain solutions for retail and consumer goods companies and expand opportunities for our people.”
While the financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed, the acquisition is expected to significantly enhance Accenture’s position in the supply chain consulting market.
