TCS partners with Insper to accelerate innovation in South America
SAO PAULO, BRAZIL and MUMBAI, INDIA — Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a global leader in IT services, recently announced a strategic partnership with Insper, a prominent Brazilian higher education and research institution.
This 10-year collaboration sees TCS investing R$50 million (US$8.67 million) to foster innovation across South America, focusing on sectors such as banking, energy, healthcare, and manufacturing.
Leveraging AI and IoT for industry solutions
The partnership aims to solve real-world problems by harnessing advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), generative AI (GenAI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and spatial computing.
Proposed research initiatives include satellite-based geo-sensing to improve crop yields in Brazil, reducing downtime on offshore oil rigs, and using AI to accelerate drug development processes. These innovations are designed to enhance businesses’ digital capabilities and operational efficiency.
Bruno Rocha, Country Head at TCS Brazil, emphasized the significance of bridging academia with industry: “This partnership will allow us access to academic expertise and create a collaboration space for our customers to bring about business, environmental, and societal changes in Brazil.”
TCS Pace methodology: Driving large-scale innovation
Central to the collaboration is the implementation of TCS’ Pace methodology for large-scale innovation. This approach will involve academic research, technology prototype development, and events such as seminars and hackathons. TCS customers across South America will benefit from exclusive access to Insper’s academic resources and labs, fostering the co-creation of tailored solutions.
Rodrigo Amantea, head of the Paulo Cunha Innovation and Entrepreneurship Hub at Insper, highlighted the educational benefits: “This collaboration with TCS reinforces Insper’s mission to promote innovation and transformation in Brazil. It will also offer new learning opportunities for our students.”
Expanding TCS’ footprint in Brazil
This partnership underscores TCS’ expanding presence in Brazil. Recently, the company launched a new delivery center in Londrina, Paraná, aiming to create over 1,600 jobs within five years.
With operations in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Londrina, TCS serves over 140 clients across industries such as banking, insurance, mining, retail, and telecommunications.
Recognized as a Top Employer in Brazil for 10 consecutive years and awarded the diversity seal from São Paulo state in 2022, TCS continues to solidify its role as a key player in driving technological innovation throughout South America.
