Health-tech startup Eyone secures $1Mn to expand in West Africa

DAKAR, SENEGAL — Senegal’s digital health startup Eyone has secured $1 million in funding to expand its healthcare platform across West Africa.
The funding round, led by Sonatel’s investment arm Véhicule d’Investissement et de Financing (VIF), contributed $855,000, with the remaining $145,000 coming from BICIS, a major local bank.
This investment underscores the burgeoning interest in the region’s health-tech capabilities.
Healthcare technology innovation
Founded in 2015 by Henri Ousmane Gueye, Eyone has developed a comprehensive digital health ecosystem that connects patients with healthcare providers, hospitals, insurers, and government institutions. The company’s platform offers e-prescriptions, medical records management, and secure digital health wallets for patients.
Digital health expansion
The fresh capital will enable Eyone to enhance its digital health infrastructure and expand its connected healthcare system. The company has already established itself as a pioneer in Senegal’s healthcare digitalization, notably through its implementation of the Unique Shared Patient File (USPF) system in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Social Action.
The initiative is part of a broader trend of African health-tech startups attracting significant investment. Earlier this year, Nigeria’s MDaaS Global and Kenya’s Ilara Health raised substantial amounts to expand their services, signaling strong confidence in the sector’s growth potential.
