TOKYO, JAPAN — Global professional services giant Accenture has partnered with Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company, one of Japan’s leading insurers, in a digital transformation initiative.

This collaboration, set to extend until March 2030, aims to transform Meiji Yasuda’s operations through the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.

Accenture will deploy AI-enabled digital assistants and other digital tools to boost innovation and efficiency across Meiji Yasuda’s workforce.

Hideki Nagashima, president and CEO of Meiji Yasuda, outlined the company’s vision under the “MY Mutual Way 2030” plan.

“We are committed to create and provide value that goes beyond the role of a life insurance company by leveraging digital technology and enhancing human potential in critical areas, such as contributing to the improvement of healthcare and QOL and vitalizing regional communities,” said Nagashima.

“Partnering with Accenture, which possesses unparalleled expertise in digital technology and business reinvention, including generative AI, we will focus on ‘product development’ through the company-wide implementation of advanced technologies and ‘people development’ through practical talent cultivation.”

Leveraging AI for sustainable corporate growth

Accenture plans to employ a suite of technologies, including generative and agentic AI, to assist Meiji Yasuda in shifting to a data-driven management platform. This platform will adapt to dynamic market conditions and consumer needs, with AI assistants personalizing insurance recommendations

A critical element of this partnership is the “MY Palette” agent, an AI tool that aids Meiji Yasuda’s sales force by providing data-driven communication strategies and simplifying administrative tasks. Currently, MY Palette supports around 36,000 sales professionals and will eventually be available to all employees.

Atsushi Egawa, CEO of Accenture in Japan and Co-CEO for Asia Pacific, highlighted the transformative potential of this initiative. “Together, Meiji Yasuda to maximize the potential of its people and it exemplifies the ideal model of a sustainable company in Japan, where innovation-driven improvement in labor productivity is urgently required amid declining birthrates and an aging population.”
