Wipro hires Accenture veteran to head consulting business

NEW JERSEY, UNITED STATES and BENGALURU, INDIA — Indian technology giant Wipro Limited has appointed Amit Kumar as Managing Partner and Global Head of Wipro Consulting.
Kumar, a former Accenture executive with 17 years of experience, will be based in New York and report directly to CEO Srini Pallia.
Strategic leadership appointment
Kumar brings over 24 years of consulting experience across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific. He has expertise in diverse industries such as high-tech, chemicals, energy, retail, automotive, and consumer goods.

Kumar, a St. Stephen’s College, Delhi graduate with a master’s degree from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, will be responsible for leading consulting-driven, AI-fueled growth and helping clients navigate business and technology transformations.
Some of the recent appointments are Ranjita Ghosh as chief marketing officer and Omkar Nisal as the CEO of Europe in Wipro, among others. The company has also faced some high-profile departures, including its chief financial officer (CFO) and heads of various global regions, which has led to legal actions and a reshuffle at the top level.

The firm reported a 24.5% YoY growth in net income, amounting to ₹33.5 billion (US$392 million), and 4.5% quarter-on-quarter growth. It placed #4 on the OA500 2024, an objective index of the world’s leading 500 outsourcing companies.
