AI-powered telemedicine launches in Nigeria, boosts healthcare access
ABUJA, NIGERIA — UNICCON Group has launched “MySmartMedic,” an AI-powered telemedicine platform, as a direct response to Nigeria’s chronic healthcare access problems.
The solution, already piloted in Abuja’s Galadimawa Village, provides rural communities with virtual doctor consultations, AI symptom analysis, and e-prescriptions, bypassing infrastructure limitations.

AI-powered telemedicine improves healthcare delivery in Nigeria
UNICCON Group’s “MySmartMedic” platform leverages AI to provide fast, affordable, and remote healthcare services, addressing critical gaps in Nigeria’s underfunded medical system.
- Bridging rural-urban disparities: The pilot in Galadimawa Village demonstrates how telemedicine can reach underserved communities. “I am very happy that you are starting with our community. I will give you my full support to ensure its success,” said the village head, Alhaji Musa Barde.
- Cost and manpower relief: The platform eases pressure on government facilities by supplementing physical healthcare with digital solutions. “It will also reduce cost, bridge the gap in manpower supply, increase efficiency, expand reach, and ease the burden on government facilities,” said Prof. Chuks Ekwueme.
- AI-driven efficiency: Offer Nigeria’s access to affordable and seamless healthcare services with features like symptom analysis, e-prescriptions, and virtual doctor consultations reduce wait times and improve diagnostic accuracy. “The platform also offers instant doctor consultations via video, audio, or chat, prescription refills, drug delivery for seamless medication access, and specialist access for chronic disease management, dermatology, mental health, and more,” Ekwueme added.
Public-private collaboration to scale healthcare reform
As UNICCON rolls out its “MySmartMedic” platform, the tech firm is urging the Federal Government to integrate the system into public healthcare facilities, a move that could transform service delivery amid funding crisis.
A call for action demonstrates the significance of government support for the expansion of digital health programs. Nigeria can leverage technology to overcome its healthcare difficulties while increasing medical access to different areas if the government collaborates with UNNICON group.
Integrating “MySmartMedic” to government-owned hospitals would boost operational performance and decrease healthcare expenses bridging the gap in healthcare access, serving underserved rural patients with scarce resources.
“MySmartMedic aligns with Nigeria’s digital health transformation goals, aiming to support government and private healthcare initiatives in improving nationwide healthcare accessibility,” Ekwueme said.
