BOGOTA, COLOMBIA — Spanish technology and defense giant Indra Sistemas has inaugurated its first Support Services Center in Bogotá, Colombia, according to a report from Nearshore Americas

This state-of-the-art facility aims to provide advanced technological solutions for security forces across Latin America, enhancing operational effectiveness and regional security capabilities.

Technological empowerment of local forces

Equipped with the latest predictive tools, the Bogotá center will strengthen the capabilities of military and security personnel. A team of locally sourced engineers, receiving specialized training from Indra’s Spanish experts via online technical assistance, will staff the center.

Indra plans to extend its footprint by establishing similar facilities and alliances throughout Latin America, facilitating localized maintenance and implementing knowledge and technology transfer mechanisms to strengthen indigenous capabilities.

Indra’s presence in Latin America comes with operations in ten countries and a workforce of over 16,000 professionals in the region.

The company develops critical technologies such as radars, command and control systems, electronic defense systems, and advanced cybersecurity solutions. Its products are crucial in addressing regional challenges such as airspace defense, border surveillance, and protection of natural resources.

A closer look at Indra’s innovations

Indra has pioneered the use of artificial intelligence in enhancing decision-making and operational efficiency in defense systems.

Noteworthy is the Maestre mission system developed for the Spanish Army’s 8×8 Dragon vehicle, which integrates various systems to improve mission survivability. Additionally, Indra has introduced a 360-degree vision system equipped with AI to enhance the protection and efficiency of armored vehicles.

Future endeavors and global impact

With ongoing projects like the in-service support center in Colombia and upcoming facilities in Uruguay, Indra is set to expand its influence and support for military operations across Latin America.

The company also boasts advancements in space technology through Indra Space, aiming to provide comprehensive coverage of the space sector’s value chain, from satellite construction to secure communication services.

Indra recently ranked #14 in the OA500, an objective index of the world’s top 500 outsourcing companies.
