HCLTech expands TechBee early career program in Nagaland, India

NAGALAND, INDIA — HCLTech is bringing its flagship early career initiative, the TechBee program, to high school graduates in Kohima, Nagaland.
The expansion aims to cultivate local tech talent by offering a unique “earn while you learn” model, providing immediate career pathways into India’s booming IT industry.
Tackling education access and affordability
According to the Eastern Mirror, TechBee provides paid technology tutorials along with facilitated access to technical degree programs to establish a direct channel between high school and professional career.
The model alleviates the often-arising financial challenges associated with taking a degree, including tuition fees and the excessive transfer costs of transferring to other larger learning centers.
Through the establishment of long-term alliances with universities such as BITS Pilani, IIT Guwahati, and Sastra University, trainees under the program obtain a locally accredited degree.
“TechBee is more than a skilling initiative—it’s a launchpad for ambitious youth to build meaningful careers in tech,” said Subbaraman B, Senior Vice President of HCLTech.
Through this structure, financial independence is encouraged as a participant is able to earn a salary during their training period. No brain drain is registered as development of talent will be achieved at a local level, and economic wealth will be maintained within the local community.
Curriculum tailored to global tech demand
In addition to accessibility, the program’s curriculum is carefully designed to address the highest priorities of the international technology industry.
The new training paths offered by HCLTech include generative AI and cybersecurity, among others; practices that are in the highest demand and changing at their fastest rates in the world of technology.
This is attributed to the fact that graduates have superior relevance and skills that are immediately applicable to employers.
The attention to these high-tech areas is a sign of progressive thinking in terms of IT proficiencies. It goes further than the fundamental IT proficiencies to equip the future generation of technology-based specialists with complex and futuristic expectations.
Empowering local talent, advancing CSR goals
HCLTech’s expansion of the TechBee initiative into Nagaland exemplifies the kind of impactful corporate social responsibility (CSR) program sought by the Outsource Accelerator Outsourcing Impact Review (OIR) 2025. The OIR 2025 offers a platform to showcase the CSR programs of companies within a global context, with a mission to redefine perceptions of outsourcing and champion “outsourcing for good.”
HCLTech has recently been ranked #12 in the OA500 2025, an objective index of the world’s top 500 outsourcing companies.
