Mappa raises $3.4Mn to transform global hiring with AI

MONTEVIDEO, URUGUAY and CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES — Mappa, an AI-powered behavioral intelligence platform, has closed a $3.4 million oversubscribed seed funding round led by Draper Associates, with participation from:
- Serac Ventures
- Riverwalk Capital
- SherVentures
- Seagrass
- Angel Squad (Hustle Fund)
- Grão VC
- SoGal Ventures
- The Pitch
- AngelHub Mexico
These investors operate within the high-risk, high-reward ecosystem of venture capital and angel investing, funding innovation and betting on the growth of start-up companies.
The investment will hasten the mission of the company to address the hiring bias and inefficiency by utilizing the vocal biomarkers to forecast the performance and the cultural fit of the candidate within less than 60 seconds.
AI tackles bias, inefficiencies in hiring
The technology created by Mappa is meant to replace the traditional interview, which is subjective and based on gut feel, with behavioral information that is measurable.
The site assesses more than 30 vocal biomarkers to determine traits such as confidence, empathy, and ownership.
More than 100,000 behavioral data points are decoded in less than a minute and provide predictive insights that can be used to remove bias and bring to light insights that would otherwise be missed with the traditional method of filtering using resumes.
The real-world impact for enterprises is significant measured savings and efficiency gains. Customer statistics indicate that the platform has saved its clients an excess of $30,000 in the form of saving more than 300 hours per position in terms of time savings and over 300 hours per position in terms of time reclaimed due to efficient and data-driven decision-making.
Strong market traction before funding
Mappa AI attained the six-figure mark in annual recurring revenue, bootstrapped within less than two years. It acquired more than 100 enterprise clients in the United States and Latin America before raising institutional capital.
This indicates a clear market need for solutions to address the complications and high costs associated with poor hiring decisions in operations.
Founder Sarah Lucena represents a rare success story in the tech landscape, being one of fewer than 50 Latin American women globally to lead an AI company and among a dozen to have raised over $1 million in venture capital. Her leadership, combined with the deep technical expertise of co-founders Pablo Bergolo and Daniel Moretti, provides a strong execution foundation.
Investor confidence, exemplified by Draper Associates’ Founding Partner, Tim Draper’s statement that “Mappa AI shows you how they’ll perform in the real world,” underscores the belief that the platform is structurally shifting a hiring landscape desperate for innovation.
“By turning live, behavior-based data into hiring signals, Mappa is giving companies a smarter way to spot talent, build stronger teams, and uncover the next generation of leaders,” Draper added.
Expanding AI solutions for enterprises
Mappa provides AI-powered intelligence and analytics platforms that transform complex spatial and operational data into actionable insights for enterprise clients, enabling them to optimize logistics, space utilization, and internal workflows.
On the other hand, Draper Associates, a 1985 venture capital company founded by Tim Draper that has been known to make early, visionary investments in transformative businesses, such as Tesla, SpaceX, Coinbase and Twitch, as well as supporting unconventional, world-changing ideas in the field of AI, robotics, biotech, crypto, and deep tech with a mission to fund the people to change the world.
