Grant Thornton expands multinational platform to New Zealand

ILLINOIS, UNITED STATES, and AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND — Grant Thornton Advisors LLC is extending its global reach to the Asia Pacific region by integrating Grant Thornton New Zealand into its multinational platform.
The move adds a firm with over US$40 million in annual revenue, marking a key step in its strategy to offer seamless, cross-border professional services.
Geographic expansion into the Asia Pacific
This integration has expanded the platform’s time zone coverage to 20 time zones, enabling a more continuous service delivery model worldwide.
The New Zealand firm, with over US$40 million in annual revenue and a team of over 300 professionals, is a substantial addition to the platform, establishing a significant foothold.
“By welcoming Grant Thornton New Zealand to our platform, we’re expanding our multinational reach into a vital region with a firm that shares our ambition and values,” said Jim Peko, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Grant Thornton Advisors.
This expansion is part of a broader, rapid consolidation of high-performing firms under the Grant Thornton Advisors banner, which was launched earlier this year. The platform already includes firms in the United States, Ireland, France, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and the Cayman Islands, with pending transactions in several European nations.
Through the inclusion of an established figure in New Zealand, the platform acquired a critical mass and local knowledge in a strategic area, enabling it to directly respond to the need for a steady and high-quality service offering to clients transitioning between global economic hubs, such as New York and Auckland.
Building an integrated, multidisciplinary service model
Peko emphasized that modern businesses demand “seamless service and consistent quality” regardless of location, a need this expanding platform is designed to meet.
This model combines the deep local insight of member firms with global connectivity and shared resources, providing clients with a singular point of contact for their international operations.
This structure operates as a multidisciplinary platform offering premier advisory and tax services, complemented by independent audit practices.
It is essential to note that Grant Thornton itself is not a licensed CPA firm and provides non-attest services. Audit services, however, are delivered through separate, independent practices, such as Grant Thornton LLP.
The platform will remain part of the wider Grant Thornton International Limited network, which provides access to member firms in over 150 markets, thereby offering both deep integration for core services and broad global reach for more specialized needs.
“As our market continues to evolve, businesses are looking for smarter solutions, deeper expertise, and global connectivity,” noted Russell Moore, CEO of Grant Thornton New Zealand.
“By joining Grant Thornton Advisors, we can deliver all three — bringing world-class technology, insight, and capital to help our clients grow with confidence, both in New Zealand and beyond.”
