Global insights find outsourcing a force for good: OIR 2025

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The Outsourcing Impact Review (OIR) 2025 by Outsource Accelerator highlights the outsourcing industry’s social contributions, with professionals worldwide largely agreeing that the sector drives positive societal change.
The report gathered perspectives from participating organizations on the social value, reputation, and future direction of outsourcing.
It demonstrates that the industry is widely regarded as a driver of economic development, community growth, and inclusive progress, although transparency in reporting is still evolving.
Outsourcing’s positive societal impact
The survey, conducted from May 30 until August 31, found that 100% of respondents believe outsourcing has a positive impact on society, demonstrating a “shared conviction across the industry that outsourcing is not merely a commercial activity but a vehicle for social advancement, economic development, and inclusive growth.”
Despite optimism, only 10% of respondents acknowledged any negative societal impact, while 82% reported no significant downsides.
This indicates strong confidence in the contributions of outsourcing but highlights the need to address environmental and community-related challenges.
Confidence high, transparency remains a challenge
Participants rated the industry’s efforts in creating societal impact as “excellent” (59%), “good” (33%), and “fair” (8%), with none rating “poor.”
This indicates strong confidence in social initiatives, especially in job creation, community development, and employee engagement.
Transparency remains a concern, as only 23% of organizations were “very willing” to disclose negative impacts, 49% were “somewhat willing,” 21% were “not very willing,” and 8% were “not at all willing.”
Despite these challenges, the overall findings reinforce the view of outsourcing as a force for good. The sector’s continued global growth, coupled with structured transparency initiatives, could further strengthen trust among stakeholders.
By embracing robust impact measurement and open dialogue, outsourcing firms can not only showcase their social contributions but also address potential risks, positioning the industry as both economically vital and socially responsible on the global stage.
