Accenture, OpenAI team up to scale enterprise agentic AI

DUBLIN, IRELAND, and CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES — Accenture, an outsourcing and professional services company, and OpenAI, a provider of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, have announced a collaboration to drive enterprise adoption of agentic AI systems.
The partnership establishes OpenAI as a primary AI partner for Accenture’s services. It launches a flagship client program designed to embed AI into core business functions across key industries.
“By combining OpenAI breakthrough technologies with Accenture’s deep industry and functional expertise and global delivery capabilities, we will accelerate enterprise reinvention and business outcomes for our clients,” said Julie Sweet, Chair and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Accenture.
Accenture upskills global workforce with ChatGPT Enterprise
A cornerstone of the collaboration is the massive internal upskilling of Accenture’s global workforce with OpenAI’s flagship technology. The firm will equip tens of thousands of its professionals with ChatGPT Enterprise, leveraging it directly in consulting, operations, and delivery work.
This initiative aims to accelerate AI proficiency across roles by providing direct access to frontier models, thereby weaving intelligence into Accenture’s own operations.
Building on this access, Accenture plans to create a group of professionals upskilled through OpenAI Certifications. By embedding OpenAI’s technology and practices into its daily work, Accenture intends to apply its firsthand learnings and experiences to guide client projects better.
This internal transformation is designed to position Accenture’s teams as deeply experienced practitioners, enabling them to help clients scale their own AI adoption more effectively.
As Fidji Simo, CEO of Applications at OpenAI, notes, “Accenture plays an important role in helping companies adopt the technologies that define each new era, and we’re excited to partner with them to accelerate the AI transformation of the largest enterprises.”
Flagship agentic AI program targets core business functions
The partnership’s external-facing component is a new flagship AI program to help enterprise clients systematically scale agentic AI.
This program combines OpenAI’s enterprise products with Accenture’s industry and functional expertise, providing clients with implementation playbooks, industry use cases, and security insights.
It is specifically designed to transform processes into AI-powered workflows across financial services, healthcare, the public sector, and retail.
The collaboration will focus on developing AI-first solutions for critical corporate functions, including customer service, supply chain, finance, and HR.
A key tool will be OpenAI’s AgentKit, which Accenture will use to help clients rapidly design, test, and deploy custom AI agents that automate workflows and augment decision-making.
The stated goal is to enable joint clients to adopt OpenAI’s agentic capabilities faster and with deeper organizational integration, turning AI into a core driver of business reinvention.
