Transcosmos first BPO to earn South Korea’s top reading culture award

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA — Transcosmos has become the first business process outsourcing (BPO) company in South Korea to receive the “2025 Excellent Workplaces in Reading Management” award, highlighting its commitment to fostering a workplace culture centered on reading and personal development.
In a press release, Transcosmos said that the award is part of the 10th Republic of Korea Excellent Reading Culture Business Certification program and co-sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Publication Industry Promotion Agency of Korea.
Reading-driven workplace culture
The certification recognizes organizations that have successfully spread a culture of reading, enhanced employee welfare, and contributed to local communities.
Since 2018, transcosmos has consistently earned the distinction, with the 2025 award, the highest honor equivalent to the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award, underscoring the sustainability of its reading initiatives.
Transcosmos Korea’s approach revolves around its vision: “Personal Growth and Connected Organization through Reading.”
The company categorizes employees based on their reading awareness and applies three strategies: leisure and relaxation, self-learning and education, and knowledge utilization for organizational culture.
For latent readers, the leisure and relaxation strategy offers light, engaging books to encourage habitual reading.
The self-learning and education initiative provides access to an electronic library, author lectures, YouTube reading programs, and support for annual reading goals. This creates a sustainable ecosystem linking learning with talent development.
Finally, the knowledge utilization for the organizational culture approach fosters collaboration, encouraging employees to form reading clubs, share recommended books, and align with organizational values.
“Reading is not merely for acquiring knowledge—it has the power to promote communication and collaboration among employees and nurture creative thinking,” transcosmos notes.
Reading culture in outsourcing
With a workforce of around 10,000, transcosmos Korea supports more than 350 clients across IT solutions, e-commerce, digital marketing, field services, contact centers, and omnichannel system management.
Integrating reading-driven initiatives into its corporate culture strengthens employee skills and communication, which can directly impact client service quality and innovation.
Such recognition may inspire other BPO firms to adopt similar employee development programs.
By linking personal growth to organizational knowledge sharing, transcosmos shows that the development of soft skills and creativity in the staff is as crucial as technological capabilities in the outsourcing industry.
With transcosmos leading the way with a reading-centered approach, this award showcases an emerging trend: harnessing human capital with culture-led strategies may be the next frontier in global competitiveness for outsourcing.
Transcosmos previously ranked #192 in the OA500 2025, an objective index of the world’s top 500 outsourcing companies.
