India’s Andhra Pradesh lures Cognizant, 8 IT firms to new Vizag hub

NEW DELHI, INDIA — In a major push to cement Visakhapatnam’s status as a technology hotspot, global IT giant Cognizant, along with eight other leading IT companies, laid the foundation for new campuses in Andhra Pradesh last December 12.
According to a report from NDTV, the groundbreaking ceremonies mark a historic step for the state’s IT ecosystem, promising massive investments and thousands of jobs for the region.
Cognizant’s mega campus and TechFin center
Cognizant officially launched its permanent campus at Kapuluppada IT Hills on a sprawling 22-acre site.
The campus, which will be developed in three phases with a total investment of Rs 1,583 crore, is expected to generate 8,000 direct jobs by 2033. The first phase, slated for completion by early 2029, will accommodate 3,000 associates.
Alongside the permanent campus, Cognizant inaugurated an interim 1,000-seat TechFin Centre at the Mahati FinTech building in Rushikonda. The facility will immediately focus on artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and digital engineering, signaling the company’s commitment to advanced technology operations in the region.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu called the multiple groundbreakings a “defining step” in transforming Andhra Pradesh into a world-class destination for global enterprises.
“We are proud to welcome Cognizant to Visakhapatnam. This expansion, coupled with the commitment from eight other technology leaders, will unlock new opportunities for our youth and further solidify the city’s position as the financial and tech capital of the state,” IT Minister Nara Lokesh said.
Eight more IT firms join the expansion wave
The foundation stones for eight other IT companies were also laid across Madhurawada and Kapuluppada, including Sattva Group, Imaginnovate Techsolutions, Fluentgrid Limited, Motherson Technology Services, Quarks Technosoft, ACN HealthCare RCM Services, Sree Tech Tammina, and Nonrel Technologies.
Collectively, the nine companies, including Cognizant, are expected to invest approximately Rs 3,740 crore and create over 40,000 jobs, reinforcing Andhra Pradesh’s strategy to attract diverse technology investments.
Nara Lokesh emphasized the state’s bold move to offer land at nominal lease rates, calling it proof of Andhra Pradesh’s intent to become a leading destination for technological advancement.
