Hexaware names Raghu Mocherla to lead AI, cyber-physical unit

NAVI MUMBAI, INDIA — Hexaware Technologies, a global provider of IT, AI, and digital solutions, has appointed industry veteran Raghu Mocherla as its Senior Vice President for Digital and Software, tasking him with driving growth in its crucial cyber-physical systems and artificial intelligence (AI) engineering portfolio.
The company ranked #18 in the OA500 2025, an objective index of the world’s top 500 outsourcing companies. The 2026 edition of the OA500 is expected to be released in March.
Hexaware sharpens AI and cyber-physical engineering focus
The move signals the IT services firm’s intensified focus on helping clients integrate advanced software and intelligence into physical products and industrial operations.
This area, which Hexaware classifies as cyber-physical systems, includes connected AI at the edge and AI systems engineering, and is considered necessary for clients who want to develop smarter products and modernize industrial processes with a connected digital thread.
“As our clients rethink how products, software, and operations come together in an AI-first world, his leadership will be central to sharpening our Digital and Software Services strategy and taking this business to its next phase of growth,” said Sanjay Salunkhe, President and Global Head – Digital & Software Services.
Mocherla’s mandate is to sharpen the unit’s strategy and expand its portfolio to seize this specific market opportunity, positioning the company not just as an IT services provider but as a strategic partner for AI-driven innovation across IT, product engineering, and manufacturing functions.
Veteran leader to grow Hexaware’s global industrial business
Mocherla brings over 25 years of technology services experience with a pronounced focus on product engineering, R&D, and industrial operations—precisely the verticals Hexaware is targeting.
As Salungkhe notes, “Raghu brings a powerful combination of product engineering depth, industrial domain expertise, and a track record of scaling global businesses.”
The last 10 years were at Capgemini, where he was an Industry Head and P&L leader of the Engineering, Research and Development business in the Americas, encompassing industrial manufacturing, automotive, and aerospace.
This experience is essential to Hexaware’s future in the cyber-physical space, where one needs to understand both software development and the constraints of the industrial sphere.
Mocherla’s track record of building and scaling businesses, along with his experience on an executive committee, are assets that Hexaware will leverage to drive market penetration.
In his statement, Mocherla emphasized the goal of making Hexaware an “end-to-end strategic technology services partner that can deliver AI-driven innovation, software solutions, and thought leadership with meaningful outcomes across IT, product engineering, and manufacturing functions for our clients and industry,” indicating that his role is to unify and elevate offerings that span traditionally separate IT and engineering silos within client organizations.
