CGI acquires Comarch Polska, expands Poland-Baltics footprint

MONTREAL, CANADA, and KRAKOW, POLAND — CGI, a global IT and business consulting firm, has finalized its acquisition of Poland’s Comarch Polska, integrating professionals and significantly bolstering its public sector capabilities and regional presence in Central and Eastern Europe.
The completion of this strategic acquisition marks a major expansion for CGI in Poland and the Baltic States, growing its local team to approximately 1,500 professionals.
The move is designed to combine Comarch’s long-standing local expertise with CGI’s international portfolio of proven solutions to target public sector modernization.
“CGI and Comarch Polska share entrepreneurial roots, with both companies founded to deliver on the promise of technological innovation, and built through close collaboration with clients,” said François Boulanger, CGI President and CEO.
Global IT leader strengthens European presence
With a global presence of 400 offices, CGI leverages its 50-year experience to deliver scalable IT and business consulting to clients worldwide, enabling digital transformation with ROI.
Founded in 1976, the company has 94,000 professionals who offer their in-depth industry and technological knowledge to thousands of clients across sectors.
The company ranked #4 in the recently launched OA500 2025, an objective index of the world’s top 500 outsourcing companies. The 2026 edition of the OA500 is expected to be released in March.
Comarch was established in Krakow in 1993 and has become a major provider of IT solutions in Europe, serving customers in the telecommunications, financial, and retail sectors. The listed firm has a high-profile client base, and its 6,500 professionals provide specialized software and services from more than 80 offices across 30 countries worldwide.
CGI Poland grows to 1,500 professionals after acquisition
The acquisition immediately adds more than 460 IT and business consulting professionals to CGI’s roster, expanding its physical presence across several major Polish cities.
This growth through acquisition is a stated part of CGI’s long-term business objectives, enabling rapid scaling beyond organic growth alone.
“We are reinforcing our presence in Poland and the Baltic States by leveraging our deep expertise in the public sector and transferring proven capabilities from our operations across Europe,” noted Niraj Sood, CGI President in Finland, Poland, and the Baltics.
This strategy acknowledges the value of Comarch’s local market footprint as a platform for deploying CGI’s global resources and intellectual property.
“The completion of the transaction with CGI underscores the maturity and international competitiveness of the solutions developed by Comarch, as well as the high quality of work delivered by our teams,” said Jarosław Mikos, President of the Management Board of Comarch S.A.
The transaction, advised by global law firm Dentons, marks the conclusion of a process that began with a conditional agreement subject to regulatory approvals.
Public sector digital transformation drives deal
This move creates a strengthened service provider for government and public administration clients, combining localized understanding with global scale.
Tomasz Matysik, Director of the Public Sector, Comarch, notes, “Joining CGI opens up new opportunities for growth, allowing us to strengthen our services and deliver even greater value to our clients.”
“Working with a global organization that combines local presence with technological leadership provides our team with opportunities to develop within an international environment.”
Comarch’s deep local expertise is now paired with CGI’s technology-agnostic portfolio and internationally developed solutions.
The new organization will establish a new standard for performance and reliability in the Polish public-sector IT market.
“We are expanding the portfolio of proven solutions available to public sector [organizations] in Poland. Our commitment to delivering 95% of projects on time and within budget sets a new benchmark for performance and reliability in the Polish market,” said Nieścierowicz Bartlemaw Nieścierowicz, Senior Vice President of CGI in Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.
