Cherry Bekaert acquires Tarsus to boost outsourced accounting

NORTH CAROLINA and WASHINGTON, UNITED STATES — Cherry Bekaert, an accounting and advisory firm, has acquired Tarsus, a provider of outsourced accounting and financial advisory services.
The acquisition bolsters Cherry Bekaert’s outsourced accounting services practice by integrating Tarsus’s specialized industry expertise and real-time financial reporting technology.
“We are excited to welcome the Tarsus team and look forward to delivering even greater value to our clients together,” said Michelle Thompson, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Cherry Bekaert Advisory.
Strengthening GovCon and outsourced accounting
Tarsus is recognized for its deep experience in outsourced accounting, bookkeeping, strategic CFO services, and data insights, with a strong focus on technology, government contracting, staffing, private equity, and professional services sectors.
This integration provides clients with immediate access to a broader, tech-enabled suite of financial management tools. Furthermore, through its membership in Allinial Global, Cherry Bekaert connects clients to the resources of 268 member firms in 109 countries worldwide.
Critically, Tarsus operates two dedicated divisions that fill niche market demands. Its GovCon division offers full-service, FAR/DCAA-compliant managed accounting services for government contractors nationwide, while AdminAssist provides a variety of financial services, including accounting, payroll, invoicing, and more.
Alex Diaz-Asper, Managing Partner of Tarsus, notes, “By combining our strengths, we can offer an expanded suite of services while maintaining the high standards and personalized attention our clients expect.”
Scaling CFO advisory and transaction services
Through the acquisition, the combined force will be able to provide a more streamlined line of services, from basic accounting to higher-level transaction advisory and strategic CFO services.
“Tarsus’ experience and established presence in the Washington, DC, and Kansas City markets strengthen our brand, operational capabilities, and scale within this region and in the outsourcing and CFO advisory arenas,” said Thompson.
The move will help deliver collective success for clients, leveraging the joint industry experience and operational scale of the two entities. The move also enhances Cherry Bekaert‘s capacity to serve as a strategic partner to companies that require value creation and growth.
The way Tarsus works, by emphasizing the right data at the right time to drive growth and equity value, adds to the advisory services already offered by Cherry Bekaert.
“Together, we look forward to creating new opportunities and delivering even greater value,” Diaz-Asper concludes.
This strategic consolidation positions Cherry Bekaert to more aggressively compete in the evolving advisory landscape by combining niche-market penetration with scalable service delivery with Tarsus.
