Google Cloud’s Gemini AI reshapes global healthcare at HIMSS26

NEW YORK, UNITED STATES — Google Cloud is showcasing how its Gemini-powered AI agents are redefining healthcare operations and patient engagement at the HIMSS Global Conference and Exhibition, Healthcare Finance reports.
Google Cloud has formed a partnership with major healthcare organizations which include CVS Health, Highmark Health, Waystar, Humana and Quest Diagnostics to implement agentic AI technologies in their operational processes, revenue cycle management (RCM) systems and patient communication.
Agentic AI streamlines patient care and clinical workflows
CVS Health announced the launch of Health100, a health technology services subsidiary powered by agentic AI. The platform provides an integrated healthcare engagement experience, allowing patients to access information seamlessly across pharmacies, care providers, insurers, and digital health solutions.
“AI is building a shift toward a simpler, more connected healthcare journey,” said Tony Ambrozie, senior vice president and chief digital, technology, and information officer at CVS Health.
Health100 also enables pharmacist-led care management, surfacing the most relevant information for patients.
Highmark Health is leveraging its generative AI assistant, Sidekick, to streamline workflows and support enterprise-wide transformation.
“The next chapter is bringing multi-agent support to employees,” said Richard Clarke, chief data and analytics officer at Highmark Health.
In just over a year, Sidekick has grown from handling 1 million to more than 6 million prompts, generating an estimated $27.9 million in AI-enabled value for 2025.
For the Allegheny Health Network, Sidekick automates the first draft of complex research protocols.
Gemini AI optimizes revenue cycle management and lab insights
Waystar, a healthcare payment software company, has expanded its collaboration with Google Cloud to accelerate autonomous revenue cycle operations.
Since launching Waystar AltitudeAI, the company has helped providers prevent over $15 billion in denied claims while reducing appeal and documentation workflows by 90%.
Chris Schremser, chief technology officer, emphasized that administrative waste nationwide costs $440 billion annually.
Quest Diagnostics is introducing Quest AI Companion, a HIPAA-compliant AI chat feature that helps patients interpret lab results through the MyQuest app and portal.
Humana’s Agent Assist, built on Gemini Enterprise for Customer Experience (CX), operates in the background to enhance call center support and overall service quality.
“We are moving beyond static digital records into the agentic healthcare era. This is a fundamental shift from ‘point-and-click’ software to anticipatory care,” Google Cloud said.
The company will provide demonstrations and insights during HIMSS26, which will be held on March 9–12 in Las Vegas.
As healthcare increasingly relies on outsourced IT and cloud solutions, the rise of agentic AI signals a broader industry shift.
The advanced AI integration enables providers to maintain their operational efficiency while complying with industry standards. The solution provides a model which healthcare organizations worldwide can use to obtain cost savings, enhance patient engagement and complete their digital transformation process.
