NTT DATA to acquire NCR Voyix Japan bank unit to expand financial IT
TOKYO, JAPAN — NTT DATA, a global technology services provider, has reached an agreement to acquire NCR Voyix’s bank technology solutions business in Japan.
The move, expected to close by the end of 2026, positions NTT DATA to strengthen its financial services portfolio by integrating specialized banking technology with its global scale.
Strategic refocus for NCR Voyix
The divestiture of the Japan bank technology business allows NCR Voyix to sharpen its focus on its core commercial segments.
Darren Wilson, the Executive Vice President and President, Retail and Payments at NCR Voyix, explains that the transaction helps the company to focus on its retail and restaurant operations.
“NTT DATA is a natural fit for this team and this portfolio, given its deep experience serving financial institutions and its global scale,” said Wilson.
“We are confident this transition creates positive outcomes for clients and employees alike, while enabling NCR Voyix to continue investing in our AI‑accelerated, next‑generation cloud platform offerings for retail and restaurant customers.”
This narrowing is to enable NCR Voyix to continue offering next-generation, AI-accelerated cloud platform solutions specifically aimed at retail and restaurant customers.
NCR Voyix is a global platform provider in unified commerce across shopping and dining. The company provides its customers with payment capabilities across over 35 countries by integrating a dynamic, end-to-end payments platform.
Selling the Japan-based banking unit, operated by NCR Commerce Japan, streamlines the company’s portfolio and focuses it exclusively on empowering retailers and restaurants with its unified commerce solutions.
Strengthening financial services under NTT DATA
For NTT DATA, the acquisition represents a strategic expansion of its financial services portfolio in Japan.
The acquired business has a long history of supporting financial institution clients in Japan, delivering specialized technology and mission-critical services, including foreign exchange, loan, call center, video teller, and network solutions.
NTT DATA intends to integrate this established expertise into its global financial IT services portfolio to further strengthen service delivery for financial institutions.
By absorbing the NCR Voyix bank technology business, NTT DATA aims to ensure continuity for existing clients while creating new opportunities for the business and its employees as part of a broader global organization focused on financial services technology.
