TP Philippines uses 63% renewable energy, cuts carbon 52%

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — TP in the Philippines, formerly Teleperformance, has accelerated its push for cleaner operations, with renewable energy now accounting for 63% of its nationwide electricity use in 2025.
According to a report from Malaya Business Insight, the milestone comes alongside a 52% reduction in total carbon dioxide emissions, highlighting the information technology and business process management (IT-BPM) giant’s growing commitment to sustainability across its 26 sites in the country.
Greener infrastructure fuels emissions drop
“Our transition to renewable energy was no small feat, but it reflects our commitment to acting as a responsible and sustainable organization,” said Rahul Jolly, chief executive officer of TP in the Philippines.
The increase in renewable energy use demonstrates measurable results in the company’s sustainability strategy, even as its operations continue to expand.
TP’s sustainability gains are supported by greener infrastructure. Several sites, including McKinley, Aura, and Vertis North, operate in LEED-certified buildings, while Alabang Plaza E and Alabang Vector 3 hold both LEED and EDGE certifications.
These facilities incorporate energy-efficient cooling systems, optimized building design, and improved water management, reducing overall energy demand.
The company reported that emissions intensity has fallen to 0.25 tCO2e per full-time employee, a 77% improvement from its 2019 baseline.
TP aligns its sustainability roadmap with the Science Based Targets initiative, supporting goals consistent with the Paris Agreement.
Globally, it aims to source 50% of electricity from renewable energy by 2026 and 80% by 2030, while targeting reductions in Scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emissions.
Culture and collaboration drive sustainability
Beyond energy sourcing, TP has strengthened its environmental strategy through IT infrastructure optimization, circularity initiatives, IT equipment donations, and expanding Cloud Campus work models, which reduce commute-related emissions.
The company also partners with public and private organizations, including Aboitiz Power, to supply renewable energy under the Green Energy Option Program, and participates in campaigns such as Earth Hour.
“Environmental responsibility is a people-driven effort rooted in culture and daily decision-making,” said Ed Punzalan, vice president for facilities and administration.
Programs like Citizen of the World and Citizen of the Planet encourage employees to act as stewards of the environment, extending sustainability beyond operations to corporate culture.
As sustainability becomes a growing benchmark for global outsourcing firms, TP’s progress demonstrates how major IT‑BPM employers can pursue deep decarbonization while maintaining resilience and service excellence.
Its sustainability journey also sits alongside broader industry efforts documented in the Outsourcing Impact Review (OIR) 2025 by Outsource Accelerator, which highlights how the sector is redefining corporate success to include environmental and social impact as part of structured sustainability programs.
