Accenture acquires Siemens’ IndX to scale industrial AI capabilities

CHICAGO, UNITED STATES — Accenture has agreed to acquire Industries eXcellence Group (IndX), a division of Engineering Group and long-standing Siemens Digital Industries partner, expanding Accenture’s capacity to deliver industrial AI, digital twin, and manufacturing automation solutions.
According to a press release, IndX brings more than 650 professionals with expertise in Siemens industrial software — spanning PLM, simulation, digital twin, SCADA, and industrial edge computing. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Accenture, listed on the New York Stock Exchange, provides technology services and consulting globally; IndX serves clients in aerospace and defense, automotive, life sciences, energy, and utilities, among others.
IndX’s Siemens expertise fills Accenture’s industrial software gap
IndX implements digital thread solutions that connect engineering, manufacturing, and automation — from PLM and digital twins to SCADA and industrial edge computing.
Post-close, IndX will extend the Accenture Siemens Business Group — a global industrial practice combining Siemens technology with AI-enabled engineering and manufacturing, formed last year.
Siemens implementation expertise and decade-long client relationships in industrial software take years to build organically — making IndX a high-value acquisition even without a disclosed deal price.
“We will combine IndX’s proven expertise in Siemens technologies with Accenture’s AI capabilities and industry knowledge to solve this challenge for clients faster,” said Tracey Countryman, global supply chain and engineering lead at Accenture.
Two new centers of excellence anchor IndX integration
Accenture plans two new Centers of Excellence for Siemens Digital Industries solutions — one in Italy and one in India — staffed with industrial software, AI, and digital engineering professionals.
IndX’s clients span aerospace and defense, automotive, energy, life sciences, and utilities — sectors where engineering and manufacturing software integration directly determines product development speed.
Adding 650 Siemens-certified industrial software professionals across multiple countries positions Accenture to offer manufacturers a single consultancy spanning the full Siemens DI software stack.
“Accenture’s acquisition of IndX is a milestone for the Accenture Siemens Business Group,” said Tony Hemmelgarn, President and CEO of Siemens Digital Industries Software.
The industrial software market has become one of manufacturing’s highest-growth investment categories as aerospace, automotive, and industrial equipment companies race to digitize engineering and production workflows.
Accenture competes for manufacturing transformation mandates against Capgemini, Infosys, and Wipro — all of which have built dedicated Siemens implementation practices — and against major management consultancies including Deloitte and PwC.
For Siemens Digital Industries Software, Accenture’s expanded implementation capacity — backed by 650-plus certified professionals across Italy, India, Germany, the US, and Mexico — accelerates adoption of its industrial software platform among global manufacturers.
